Aquastat adjustment

Steam boiler, with tankless coil domestic water heater. The aquastat is a White-Rogers, with no numerical temp settings. I removed housing cover which revealed wiring and a multi-toothed cogwheel. My question is how to adjust it, and how do you know what is proper setting? Assume you rotate left to reduce, and right to increase.

DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is best for you to call a licensed steam certified and rated plumber and pay for an hours service call to check your boiler and the controls.

Are you sure there are no numbers? Stamped into that toothed wheel? That is there to be adjusted if needed. Be careful as sometime those controls are line voltage. You can adjust it while its powered safely if it's low voltage. turn it ckockwise until it calls or visa versaMiss Hall's School service mechanic, greenhouse manager, teacher and dog walker0
