Any steam heat contractors near Bloomington IN?

I'm an electrician and not a heating guy, but I'm recently interested in learning about steam systems and exploring some of the old systems that are still up and running. I've been reading books and watching lectures etc. but, having no tangible steam system, I'm reading through a lot of things that I have absolutely no concept of. This is kind of a long shot since steam doesn't seem very prevalent out here.... but it would be cool to connect with someone who has experience here and might be doing service work on old steam. Are there many buildings left out here that still run steam heat?

In indiana look at older municipal and university buildings and other old large buildings for steam heat systems. Here in michigan very few private homes have steam but many larger commercial buildings built before the 50's or so are steam.

I've been out steam consulting in Indy in the big old homes that are next to the old industrial part of town. They don't appear to have anyone qualified even in that area… which was home to major manufacturing of steam heating systems, IIRC.

I’m in Bloomington. And my knowledge of steam is minimal although I like to visit the wall to gain more knowledge. I work in the automotive field. My home has baseboard/ hot water heat. I think steam is very rare here. The IU campus is steam but most other homes and buildings are not, to my knowledge. The bigger contractors in the area- HFI , Commercial Service, Eco Friendly (formerly Simanton Mechanical) may have someone that knows a thing or two. I know of another independent contractor( Low Gap HVAC) who may have knowledge or a lead.

Even Indianapolis , Evansville FtWayne may be limited . It’s just the territory I guess.

I'm in Indianapolis. Most of our work is hot water, but we do work on steam heat, and have quite a few customers with it in the area we are located in. The place I work is a smaller company and we are definitely not known like the larger sales oriented shops. Feel free to send me a message. Unfortunately, we don't work in Bloomington, only Marion Co and the counties around it.
