Taco Zone Valve Controller ZVC404-EXP

I have 4 Zones and would like to combine zones 1 and 3 to minimize boiler short cycling. When my living room thermostat calls (Zone 1) I'd like to also have it open the basement zone (Zone 3).
Zone 1 has a battery powered vision pro 8000 on it using a wired remote sensor that goes to the middle of the room.
Zone 3 is controlled by a TekMar thermostat (located in the living room) with a remote sensor to the basement. I'd like to keep it powered so I see what the temp is in the basement.
Is this possible?

Seems to me if you jumped the zones you want to run together on the zone valve side of the control and not the tstat side it should work like you want.0
