NOISY RADIATOR

We have a two pipe gravity steam system. There are no traps on the radiators and no F&T trap on the main return. Strictly a two pipe steam system. They added thermostatic valves to four radiators and all is working fine except for one radiator. If the thermostatic valve is fully open, it heats properly. If the valve is partially open, the radiator bangs. The feed to each radiator is at the top and the return is at the bottom. The pressuretrol is set properly at 2# cutout & 1/2# cut in. Any suggestions as to why this is happening..?.. HELP!

Did your old valves have orifice built into the valve itself or was there an orifice plate in the union. Did they compensate for that?
If you are running up to 2 PSI and have no traps on the radiator, there must be a method to keep the steam out of the returns.
The exception would be a vented 2 pipe system which would have an air vent on each radiator.
