Please help me figure this out.

My forced air gas heater in my home suddenly started to sound like it has a small pebble or two in it pingpong around when the heater is on. No burning smell or other sounds. I really would like to fix this myself before calling in someone for maybe nothing at all. Any thoughts on how to check this? Thanks in advance.

If you have a fan switch on the thermostat, you can turn on the big fan blower with the heat off. See if it is still there with fan only and the gas fire off.

Is this a condensing furnace with a plastic vent pipe (chimney)?
If not sure you can post a picture.

If it has an inducer motor, fan blade on it may be cracking. Had a similar issue. Open the furnace cover and try to pinpoint the source of the sound. Post pic or better yet a video of it.
