I would like to know weather or not my condonsate return pump and piping needs to be sch.40 or 80?(low pressure heating steam)?

Sch 40 would be most common, 80 if you want to pay for it.
40 might outlast the pump itself.
    Is this buried at all?

Don't know what the price difference is.

Schedule 40 in a residence will probably outlast you, unless you have excessive make up water or something funny going on. I have never seen schedule 80 used in a house and have seen many old, old systems where 40 held up well on steam heating systems

Schedule 80 is usually used in commercial, industrial, schools, hospitals, manufacturing etc. These larger systems tend to have more leaks, use steam for process and generally have larger make up water requirements. as a result the condensate is more acidic so schedule 80 is used

Given my experience, anything after the pump will only benefit from sch. 80. Run shouldn't be too long and cost will be less than 100 bucks. Do it.

    I just posted about this.
