new gorton #1 main vent spewing steam, then back to normal

any ideas why a new Gorton #1 would go wild on it's 1st evening of operation then be Ok the next day, and fine ever since? We installed a new system Monday and that evening the guy calls saying it's like a sauna in the basement; identifies which of the two Gorton's it is. I said i would replace it, yet now I'm curious what happened. Any rough ideas?

Perhaps some rust or other debris got stuck and wouldn't let the vent close.

Maybe it's slightly out of alignment so sometimes it gets hung up, other times it doesn't?

    They're very simple vents.

This is a #2, but the #1 works identical inside.

I think Chris is right. If the vent continues to work, you should be fine.
