leaky Honeywell TrueSTEAM HM509W1005

First of all, I'm very much a novice, so if this board is not geared toward the issue I'm having my apologizes in advance. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.

About two years ago we had a Honeywell TrueSTEAM HM509W1005 humidifier installed. Last week we found a small puddle on the floor and noticed a slight leak coming from the unit. I contacted Honeywell and they said that the gasket (part HM600XGSKT) is the most likely issue. However, it's no longer under warranty and they don't make the part in question anymore. The part itself is about $15-$20, but it shows as discontinued on the various sites I've found it on.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where I can get this gasket, or perhaps has an alternative solution to stop the leak?

Below are links to the humidifier and the part.

Again, apologizes if this issue isn't something that's covered here.

Supplyhouse.com has a replacement tank and gasket for that unit. Doesn't appear they sell the gasket alone. Here is the link:

I don't have much knowledge on this but I agree you may need to get the whole tank unit as Fred suggests.

My experience with these is that they work very well, certainly one of the best residential humidifiers out there, but they need a lot of maintenance. The heating element needs to be cleaned yearly, the gasket needs to be changed less often but 2 or 3 years is normal and by that point the tank is very calcified and should be replaced as well in my experience. I will say I don't have tons and tons of experience with them but that has been my experience this far FWIW. I think that putting an RO filter on the water supply would help with a lot of these problems, but I have no empirical evidence to prove this yet as no one has wanted to spend the extra money.

I have installed around 6-7 of these over the past 6 years. Nothing but problems. I have had 2 plastic bowls(tank) crack. Scale in the water is a huge problem. Systems require alot of cleaning. They did start selling a Reverse Osmosis water filter to help with issues. They have stopped manufacturing the TruSteam. They have a new, better product called the Honeywell Electrode. Similar to the Aprilaire steam humidifier. They work better with scale, they advise not to filter the water at all with these. Find out where it was purchased and they might replace it with the newer model.
