high pressure steam vertical modular piping

Would anyone have a suggested boiler piping for 2 vertical hp steam boilers being twined. Header & near boiler piping would be helpful

  • Is there a recommendation from the manufacturer in an installation manual?
Is this for process steam, or heating, and are they to be operated simultaneously or alternately?--NBC

In most cases with HP steam you need a non return valve and a gate valve with a drain valve in between the two valves coming off each boiler that will tie into a common header. Usually no Hartford loop or equalizer line as it is a pumped condensate return. The boiler take off pipes need to be sized correctly as well as the common header.

ASME code requires that the section of piping leaving the boiler up to and including the first shut off valve be hydro tested along with the boiler. The drain and blow down valves and piping between those valves must also be hydro tested.

This in some cases is done by the manufacturer. If the valves are installed at the factory a factory hydro test report would be included with the boiler package.

If the valves are field installed then a field hydro test will be required witnessed by the boiler insurance inspector.
