Slant Fin Galaxy

Hello all,
I have a steam boiler replacement coming up and my usual supply house carries Slant Fin. I have installed their water boilers and have been quite happy with them. Ive never installed one of their steam boilers only other brands. Ive seen some posts about people being unhappy with the Galaxy steamers. Just looking for some opinions from others on their experiences with these boilers. Thanks

Does it have a coil? If so, while it's not a bad product, it can have some surging issues. It takes a lot of care to clean the boiler to maintain a stable waterline. If it's less coil, there is a speed skimmer built into the casting which makes it a lot easier.

Run. Fast. Extremely unstable waterline. LWC tapping in wrong location. This boiler was never designed to be a steamer. It is a nightmare. Even Slant Fin Reps will not defend.

Go with a Weil EG or a Peerless 63. You will thank me.

Thanks for the feedback. Ive had no problems.with the Weil EG or Williamson GSA I will stick with the Williamson from Sids. I like supporting my local supply house but its not worth having problems with an install.

Others on the site have used the intrepids and been very happy with them. They are not available in sizes below 400 sqft of steam.

I just tried looking up the Weil EG on the W-M website and it says it is a discontinued product. What replaces it?

    OK.....now I found it.
