I have run into these a few times, usually in apartment buildings. This is the first time I have seen this in a single family home.

What a great piece of equipment! The plates on top look like it could have been wood fired as an option?

This one was in Cleveland Park, in the shadow of the National Cathedral.

Wow! That is really neat. @hot rod you know I want to build a wood fire in that!

Maybe heat the wash & rinse water for the wringer washer (if lucky).
Gas in the summer and wood/coal in the winter perhaps?
Is there a gravity stack vent on the drying chamber to induce air flow thru the heater/cabinet?

My clothes dryer is much older in design and a lot simpler.

Fifty feet of clothesline from the back porch to the back of the garage. In the winter I have a few lines down the cellar for periods or rain or snow.
