Home owner - Bottom half of evaporator coil frozen

My filter was dirty and the bottom half of the evaporator coil froze solid. Is a dirty filter enough to cause this? The system is 2004 installation. I can't afford to replace right now. The bar is one of those lights that I know does nothing when it is old. Daytime temp is 75-80 and night is about 50.
See photo.

Let the evap defrost. Install a new air filter and restart the system. See if it freezes up on you again. Also make sure the blower is running and air is coming out of the vents.

If it freezes up again it could be low on refrigerant.

Yes, dirty filter can do this. It's about air flow, and if AC runs all the time, this can cause condensate to freeze. Also make sure all your vents and returns are open and unobstructed. Let thaw and restart with a new filter. Should be fine unless blower is not working or the refrigerant is low. Most likely air obstruction. I have a 20 years old ac, refilled it once, at 15 year mark.
