Looked at this steam system today. Someone had replaced the main vents in the not-too-distant past.............

    These were relatively short mains, so I installed Gorton #1s and added a riser to the one that didn't have it. It vents much more quickly now and doesn't leak steam.




    Sometimes, all you can do is shake your head and get out the wrenches.

    Well yes that is silly... but at least they knew a vent needed to be there and didn't just plug it.

    Those auto vents let all the air out till water reached them right..... :p
