This article in Dan's news letter talks about a New York city sponsored help desk for people with steam problems:

I wonder about the quality of their advice-has anyone tried them out?

I don't know how good the city's help desk advice about steam system optimization is, but the article's author included these vomit-inducing words in the third paragraph:

"...it’s not totally obvious what a building owner can do to make a fifty-year-old heating system work more efficiently, short of...ripping out old pipes and replacing them with forced air..."

Scorched air a route to efficiency? Dan or one of you other professionals should get in touch and set Laura Bliss straight!
