My Steam (gas heated in one room) has stopped working for the last few months, the vent is not hot at all. i was wondering if this could be because the vent is always covered with a thick curtain and that created a blockage or so? if that's the problem, what would be the solution to get it going again?

Did you check to make sure the inlet valve is open? It's possible the vent is bad or clogged and not allowing the air out. This is a one pipe system correct? If the vent is bad you will need to replace it. A couple of pictures of the rad in question wouldn't hurt. Is it making any noise? I can't see curtains causing an issue with a vent.0
