low water cut off problem

We have been called in to try to resolve the issue of the probe type secondary LWCO tripping (right side of unit). The situation happens just before or right after the unit cycles off on pressure. We are aware that the header is not correctly piped and it is getting resolved. Some other piping issues away from the boiler are also getting addressed. The water line does not go below the primary LWCO/feed control when the secondary trips....I have noticed that the equalizer does not get very hot more than about 12" down from the header.
All input would be greatly appreciated!

That LWCO is supposed to be on the boiler. It looks like it's sticking into the side of the Hartford loop. When you get the boiler repiped, get the surgeon to put the LWCO where it's supposed to be.0

LWCO is piped into the return to the boiler below the 'T'. It is a secondary, the primary is piped into the boiler. Why would its position be a problem? The pipe that it is in should always have water in it if the sight glass has water in it and the primary is not tripping.0

I see new piping. Was boiler skimmed?0

What is the height of the secondary compared to the primary? Your wording implies they are at different heights.Buster said:The water line does not go below the primary LWCO/feed control when the secondary trips....

Secondary is 1.5" lower than the primary which puts it .5" above the bottom sight glass nut.0

Unit did get skimmed. We dont get any evidence of surging either0

You are going to have surging in that equalizer so it's a terrible place for a LWC. Move it to the boiler and fix the near boiler piping to manufacturers specs and you should be fine.New England SteamWorks

Terrible location for the low water cut off.
Also, get rid of the gastight tyrapped to the water heater gas pipe.
That is bad news0 -
Update, Header has been re-piped and LWCO moved to the boiler. Unit is running much better.
Thanks for the input!0 -
