Hi,
Working on a 100 year old 1 pipe steam system.
Installed used Burnham boiler recently. Natural gas.
Looking for a steam expert near Kingston to examine system before we turn it on.
Thank you much.

Since you have some time before the system is turned on, overfill the boiler, and let it sit, to check for leaks in the boiler, and wet returns.
While you are waiting for the signs of any leaks to show, order the collection of steam books from the shop here, and a quaint yourself with the principals of steam heating.
If properly installed, and maintained, the system will be dead quiet, with steam reaching the near and far radiators at the same time, a few minutes after boiling starts.
Look on your dry returns for the main vents, and post some pictures of them, as I am sure they will not be adequate.
A good low pressure 0-3 psi gauge will help you keep the pressure below 1.5 psi, (Basic functionality), or 12 ounces, (economy, and comfort).--NBC0 -
