Steam heat thermostat, why 1 cycle per hour?

Just needing some education. Why would I want to use a thermostat I can set for one cycle per hour?
Just want to stay warm in the winter.

My best guess is to have only one long cycle because of the time needed for air removal per cycle. The cast iron retention of heat would carry you thru the off cycle. IMO0

I agree with Chris. My T-Stat is set at 2 CPH and it operates very well.0

@RomanGK_26986764589 what kind of T-Stat you have?0

I think we need everything in between, from .5 to 3 in .1 CPH increments. Or you could have the thermostat decide too, based on a minimum run time that you input into the stat.0

It's mostly about mass. Given that it's an inverse function, it should really step using log(something) increments. The difference between 11 & 12 CPH is drastically different than the difference between 1 & 2 CPH.0
