How's This Work?

I saw this today and don't understand how's this work? Wouldn't there be a "short circuit" between the supply and return? Tankless wall hung unit, everything else typical.

No ..... there is hydraulic seperation between the boiler loop and the system loop.....they shouldve piped at least 12 or so inches of straight pipe before piping in a elbow for the system loop....i also wouldve piped the closely spaced tees closer....

Thanks. So, you're saying this can work OK, but could have been piped "better"?

As it is, it actually worked just fine, satisfactory distribution and temps throughout the entire floor. I'd just not ever seen this arrangement before.

I'm not entirely clear on the "hydraulic separation" part. Can you explain a little more?

OK, never mind. I googled it up, and found the explanations. I'd not yet heard of hydraulic separation in this form. Thanks much for your time.
