A basic understanding of water chemistry and material interactions can help equip system designers and installers in making sounder decisions concerning equipment selection, operational/maintenance procedures and troubleshooting. In this second water quality webinar this year, Mark Olson, Caleffi GM, takes a deeper look at the role water chemistry plays in the life of a closed hydronic system. You'll learn:
- How you know if water quality is good or not good?
- Are there any particular practices Europeans pursue?
- What water is not worth treating?
- Are non-electrically conductive dissolved materials a concern?
- What is the effect of ion-exchange based water treatment on dissolved iron? Chlorides? Bi-carbonates?
- How can trapped air cause galvanic attack?
- If hardness is low, but TDS high, should we ever care?
- How can a copper pipe behave differently in a plumbing app vs. hydronic app?
- What can trip up a pH measurement error?
- What common hydronic equipment “likes” high water electrical conductivity?
Mark Olson has served as general manager of Caleffi North America since 2005. He holds an MSE degree in Applied Mechanics from the University of Michigan. Mark’s 30 years' of experience includes engineering, sales and marketing management positions with Whirlpool Corporation, Pentair and Generac Power Systems.
All Coffee with Caleffi webinars are free, but registration is required. After registering, you will be immediately forwarded a confirming e-mail containing log-in details for attending the webinar. When training time comes, grab a coffee, tune in and learn more about Caleffi’s innovative products and how they can add value to your work.

These are all excellent productions. If you are ignoring water quality you are setting your systems up for failure. The old days of set it and forget it are long behind us. Get on board and learn how to do it right.
They are also a proud sponsor of the RPA's annual Social Event, held in conjunction with AHR in Las Vegas this year.
METhere was an error rendering this rich post.

I agree wholeheartedly. Seeing way too many issues w boiler and component failures. Ran across this Saturday. Less that great radiant floor set up.0
