seasonal maintenance

What type of get-ready-for-winter sort of prep is required for a gas fired one pipe steam system . . . Works splendidly but the bride wants me to have someone come and check it.

Make sure the boiler water is clean. Drain a little water from the drain valve on the boiler to remove any sediment. Look for any leaks around the boiler and along any piping/valves/fittings. Fire it up and make sure the main vents and radiator vents are all working properly and that the LWCO, Pressuretrol, Auto water feed function properly. Not a bad idea to have a Pro check and clean the burners, do a combustion test and adjust as needed.

I'd add that you should take the pigtail off the pressuretrol and make sure it's completely cleaned out.
