What's making the noise in the indoor unit?

Options
Last night while the Fujitsu mini-split indoor unit was on, it all of a sudden started to make clicking sound, the sound is coming from the fan because the clicking frequency changes when I changed the fan speed. I even tried to spin the fan with my hand when the unit is off, the clicking sound is periodic, it seems something is rubbing inside. Here's a video of it: https://youtu.be/XRV_zL--ML0

Could someone help me pinpoint the issue? Thank you!

You can remove those vanes and swing the horizontal flow directors down to access than fan. Look to see if something on the fan turbine has come loose or if something has come loose and is hitting the turbine.

There are video's on YT that explain how to access the fan.

Thanks, I found a video on how to access the blower wheel on Mitsubishi but I presume the Fujitsu follows the similar design. The one I found is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quRVwYVBlb4

Make sure you shut the circuit breaker off before taking things apart. While you in there you can clean out the dust as you go,

Thanks for the reminder. I also found videos on how to remove the whole plastic cover off, looks a bit daunting for me, hope I won't have to that, lol!

Could you link a video on the Fujitsu unit? I am having a hard time getting the metal screen off, it's made of one piece, not the two pieces that can open up on the Mitsubishi. Any ideas?

This is for a Mitsubishi but maybe it's similar to your unit -

Maybe someone took a playing card and visegrips to that wheel, owe thats how we used to make the bikes sound cool when I was a kit.
I have had to replace bearings on these, little carbon circles I beleive on the blower wheel end.
Let us know what it was after all.

Ok, here's my theory but it hasn't been verified yet.

The hole on the wall that runs through the line set was insulated with spray foam. A woodpecker had been pecking on the foam and somehow it pushed some foam which is now rubbing against the fan.

Now I need to find a tall ladder to verify my theory.

It may be hard taking the blade out of the system. These units are made so small and compact that space usage is optimized. Just disassemble the unit and find out whats hitting against the blades.

You tube video of the system being taken apart https://youtube.com/watch?v=Evsqcjw868A

From taking apart these systems you will find it hard to get the blades out so have some oil if necessary. Once taken about you may see broken foam and thats probably whats causing the noise. A piece of the system could have broken off.

Here's an update, the unit cover was removed but nothing was found touching the blower wheel, the noise was coming from the fan motor itself, perhaps the bearing has gone bad. Does anyone know where I can purchase the motor for replacement?
