Hago Nozzle 1.10B 80 - Defective 2x

I bought a batch of these maybe 5 years ago. System runs great, very clean every year. Complete tuneup today and immediately the system sounds bad, rumbling, puff back, but still runs but doesn't right at all. Then I remember this happened to me a few years ago with the exact same nozzle.
So I fortunately kept the one I took out and decided to just put it back. Immediately the system sounds smooth as can be.
Is this something that happens? Maybe I truly got a bad lot and it keeps coming up
Just wondering if there had been an issue. I run this Hago since it was what Peerless tested years ago and specs for this firing rate. I had tried a Delevan with bad results but I obviously don't want Hago nozzle bad 50% of the time out of the box.

What model Peerless? Which burner?
I can't say I've had issues with Hago nozzles, but anything's possible. Which Delavan did you try?All Steamed Up, Inc.

Yes, still in the original container though.0

Peerless WBV-150 with Beckett AFG burner.0

There must be some reason Peerless specifically mentions this nozzle for that setup. They recommend Delevan for the others but the Hago for this one.0

That spec has changed over time. You're actually firing it at the same rate as a WBV-125, with a 1.10 nozzle at 140 PSI and for this spec the burner should have an F-4 head. In the past, the 125 spec was a 1.10x80B Delavan but with the F-3 head. The 150 currently calls for a 1.25x80B Hago nozzle, again at 140 PSI, with the F-6 head. Before, they called for a 1.25x80A (hollow cone rather than solid) Delavan with the F-6 head.
Finding out which head is on that burner will take a bit of doing. If your boiler is new enough that the burner is mounted on a swing-out door, you should be able to see the number stamped in the head with the door swung open. If the door doesn't open, the burner will have to be removed.
Do you have a digital combustion analyzer to test the burner for proper operation after you tune it?All Steamed Up, Inc.
