amtrol boiler mate

My mothers Amtrol Boiler Mate Model WH-7L is leaking at the base. I would like to know if this is something that can be fixed instead of replaced. I'm trying to save her money that she really doesn't have. I attached a picture of the area that is leaking. She bought the house about 5 years ago so I have no idea how old the tank is.

If you can find the serial number and post it here, then someone may be able to tell you the age. That would put repair cost in perspective to a new one.

At first blush it looks like possibly the coil gasket could be the problem-repairable. Not fun to do, the tank has to be cut free and tipped on its side to access.

Hi, I had the same problem with my 17 year old Boiler Mate a while back, and since I was not the original owner they wouldn't offer me any assistance financially, and for me to buy a replacement coil from them would have cost me a ton, and that was with me installing it! The Boiler Mates were notorious for leaking exactly like yours is (and mine was) from all the research that I did. I replaced it with a Lochinvar Squire and have been very happy with it. I'm pretty sure your Mom's will need replacing.

If it is just the gasket, that will be a cheap yet time consuming fix. See page 14 here for the gasket part number 2500-218:
