Barnes and Jones big mouth vent

My guys put a big mouth vent from Barnes and Jones on a steam main the other day that took 11 minutes to get steam to the end. It took 2 minutes after. Big smiles!!

Gerry, what did the venting consist of before the "Big Mouth" installation?0

i installed my first today....1 big mouth 20 ft main (2 in) and 1 varivent on a 5 ft 2in main.....system had no venting besides rads ....it took over 25 minutes once it started to steam to get to the further radiator now it took 4 minutes....i love them ....and they actually shut when steam hits them unlike some Gortons

Paul, is that a 1/2" tap into a 2" pipe....have you had good luck with that?0

That's cool guys. On low pressure steam, drill & tap is fine. You can keep installation cost down.
Its an even better way to go when you ACM on the pipe and fittings that you don't want to touch. Mad Dog0 -
