Oil Burner Vent??

Member Posts: 3
HI guys I am trying to help my stepdad out here. We have the sulfur smell from our oil in the basement. And one of our guys said that we need to clean the oil boiler vent. Would anyone be able to help me know what that exactly is? Where it would be? And how to go about cleaning it?
Thank you in advance,
James

You should get a competent professional in there.
That unit needs a complete cleaning, chimney checked, some parts changes, and the burner set up with a combustion analyzer. Anything less won't do.
If you're smelling anything you are smelling products of combustion and that means carbon monoxide. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Generally when I have a sulfur smell on a burner, it is because there is too much air going to the burner. Could also have a restriction in the exhaust system or the flues, but check air mix first as that will also affect the draft and give smells in the room.
