Old radiator gets a new home

Thanks to Stephen for keeping this out of the scrap yard. It's holding pressure, and is amazingly easy to clean, only two coats of paint on the front, looks like original paint only, on the back. No sandblaster! This is after a pressure wash and some pocket knife picking on the top slots.
It only has one connection and an 1/8" vent hole on one tube. I'll get creative with S&R connection for hot water use.
I'm thinking about filming a nipple extraction with the cut and collapse method that has served me well.
Is an i-phone 6 enough camera for a You tube video?

There was an error rendering this rich post.

@hot rod, don't butcher that beauty! , jk, I know you won't. You'll have to tap every section for key vents though, right?0

I'm going to try feeding and returning from one end with this conversion valve. I'll stick a dip tube to the far end. I don't want to drill any holes.
I will connect and watch it with an infrared camera. I predict the whole mass will warm after a time?
I filled it slowly with a hot water hose and all the tubes warmed to the air vent level.

I have a tractor with a loader, but still almost ripped the tailgate off the truck when the lid got caught in the grooveStephen Minnich said:Was Max there to help you unload or did you use MacGyver techniques?
Now I know how the lid was fastened.
I'm thinking more like 600 lbs from the way the tractor grunted.

Curious to see how that works w/ it being steam. I was always told that you couldn't use that type of rad on hot water as it was not connected accros the top. The IR camera will tell the results I am sure.0

@Stephen Minnich that is beautiful! @hot rod I posted in another thread about using my refrigeration vacuum pump on a system or single zone before filling it with water. This way the water should almost full those columns. This is how the assembly line fills cooling systems in the automotive industry. Has worked great for me many times.

I think I will drill the top of one of the tubes and put in a flush brass plug. That should fill the beast a bit higher.
I know those oil filled, electric, steel roll around heaters heat up with just a small amount of oil in them. Must be conduction transfer does the job.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

See the countersunk slotted screw on each end of the cover? It has an oval type washer below that engages to the caps on the tubes to hold it down tightly.Stephen Minnich said:This is the one I kept but haven't done anything with it yet.
After mine bent the bolts with the unload, the top stayed behind in the truck
The washer screwed right off, once I learned how it was assembled. Clean the screw slots and give it a try.
