Adding a vent

in THE MAIN WALL
I want to add an air vent on a 6" schedule 40 hot water heating main. Do I have enough wall thickness to drill & tap for a 1/4" nipple, or is a saddle tee the way to go?

    You should have no problem drilling and tapping that, barring some kind of massive corrosion.
