Steam Radiator Placement

How far off a finished wall should I place my steam radiator? As of now I have it placed 3 1/2'' of the finished wall, but my wife wanted it closer, so I was able to get it about a 1/2'' off the wall. I feel that is to close to the wall. Is there a standard placement away from a wall?

So long as it's not touching the wall, you are fine. Otherwise, you will block some of the convective action coming off the hot sections, but the radiator is probably oversized anyway, so you are still fine...
MEIt's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy.0 -
It was either on this site or in one of @DanHolohan 's books that I read 2" was standard practice back in the day. He can correct me if my memory is failing me.0
