would anyone know what the average life span of this boiler is?

Phoenix Light Duty is not a boiler LeJohn . The unit is only available for a short time as of now and longevity should be fine if used and maintained properly dependent on how it is being used . How exactly are you using it ?

Warmboard uses the base unit as a heating source for their WarmSource system , maybe a look there at the warranty and specs will give you an idea . The unit is of very good quality and taken care of should last quite a long time .

Don't try to buck the system and purchase online in an attempt to save money , it does not work . Purchase from a reputable wholesaler and have a qualified installer do the install . By qualified I mean someone who will read the Manual and perform the install and combustion analysis as per manufacturers specs . This is not a specialty item either , do not equate a master plumbers license with qualification . It's a new world now and some guys who sucked in the ol;d world are still attempting to suck worse in the new one . Manufacturers and customers are the only ones to suffer from this phenomena

@Rich I was considering it for a tenant apartment to do heat and hot water. 3 small zones of heat and 2 3/4 baths.
