Boiler Heating Xfer Area

Many moons ago, it was thought important to list on the nameplate the heat transfer area of a heating boiler, sq ft. (Mine is 41 sq ft.) A figure of merit for boilers was the heat transfer area per Mbtu/hr input. A larger ratio was considered better, i.e., a physically larger boiler. (This was in addition to the rated heat input, Btu/hr, and net output, both also listed on the nameplate.)
