does anyone have any experience with intellihot combi's. Installation or otherwise. Looks like a well made product , but i see very little information or discussion. Should I even be considering using one?

Has anybody looked at these units , even out of curiosity? They are publishing very high GPM's for dhw. I saw one installation, but was looking for more widespread opinions. The design seems different to me . The unit looks like a tankless hot water heater with a heat exchanger for space heating. Looks like the dhw does the heating of the ch hx. Is this design typical?

I had a chance to fix installation screwed up by some plumber. Unit was primitive, no outdoor reset, no analog input, but it was one of the first modifications. Technical support is excellent. Mike is available 24 / 7 and very helpful, this is a big rarity nowadays. In general i like it, build quality is excellent. I would not install it myself, i like Viessmanns, but can't say anything bad about it. Just make sure to install gas pressure regulator.

thanks Gennady. Thats good to hear. So the problem was with the gas piping? The high GPM's on dhw looks great, just need to see just how oversized the ch side ends up. can you see this being efficient on a small ch load (20,000 btu's)? Or is this the same old problem with combi's

Apparently they do not have gas regulator in the unit , so fluctuations of street gas pressure affected gas to air ratio.

I visited with Intellihot at AHR and they're expanding their product line and services.

Check out what they've been up to here: https://heatinghelp.com/industry-news/intellihot-unveils-suite-of-iot-and-wi-fi-enabled-products-and-services/

The Intellihot combi has come a long way since the first generation. The combi does hook up to outdoor temp sensor, and has separate temperature settings for DH and SH. It's set up for a plug and play installation.
