One-pipe steam TRV for Sunrad?

Any ideas on installing a TRV on a one-pipe steam Sunrad? Obviously I could use a regular Danfoss valve but this would extend out from the front of the radiator and I can foresee that being a problem...Just wondering if anyone had come across this and found a solution? Thanks in advance.

Use a street 90 in the radiator and a remote sensor to control it.

So bring the trv in front of the radiator in other words?

It is one pipe so you are replacing the air vent right? Is the vent out the front tapping?

Yes, your saying elbow over the radiator so the trv isn't sticking out, and use a remote sensor because the trv is infront of the radiator right?

The elbow goes onto the trv first then install it into the radiator. Learned that the hard way. If there is not enough room then use an elbow and what ever is the shortest nipple you can get away with. I prefer to use brass incase I need to remove it later. You can also drill and tap it to 1/4" or 3/8" if you need it stouter.

Does anyone know if someone makes an angle 1-pipe steam trv?

I have explored and shopped this to death recently and I have not seen any angle configuration.

It would not function as the air vent needs to drain condensate. You can always pipe it two pipe and use a two pipe trv.

Why not install a 90 and swing the TRV away from the radiator so the operator is in front of the wall? No need for remote then.

I'd make sure it's not level, with a slight pitch back to the radiator.

I just think from an asthetic stand point that might not be acceptable. I'd just like to know if there was a better option.

I'd think the remote operator setup would be worse, but that's me.

Having a nickle plated 90 would help too if you can find one though I'm using the ugly gold Gortons in my TRV. I had to go with performance over cosmetics. :(
