Weil McLain Ultra experts ?

New poster. I've had an Ultra 60 for maybe 8 years. It has trouble firing up. It lights , then I hear that motor boating sound , then it goes out. After so many tries I get an error . Can't remember code right now. I reset and it usually does the same thing. If I crack open the little sight glass while it is motor boating it will stay lit and then ramp up to high flame. Why would doing this let it light? I have cleaned it in the past and seemed to help. I've had this issue for years. Any ideas? Thanks

You need a full tear down and cleaning. The condensate is backing up like John said.

Thanks for the comments. I did a full cleaning today. A lot of crude in the bottom and wet looking from the bottom halfway up. This is a propane burner. Thanks again.

Did you use the service kit? Did you run a combustion test?

Make sure to get the cleaning kit it comes with gaskets. If I were you I would leave it to a pro. Just make sure that you let them know which unit you have when you call so they get the proper kit from Weil McLain.
