Removing 30-year old vent

Have a CGa from 1978 with an oozing vent. Obviously the Schrader pin is shot, but I'm guessing the body is gone as well. Or do you think swapping the valve pin might work?

If removal is necessary, what do you think the chances are that it will come out in one piece, threads and all? I really don't want to be fighting with it at this time of year when it's 20° out.

I would just screw the cap down tight to stop the oozing, assuming the cap is still there. Don't force it though. Then replace it during the week when the supply houses are open.

Post a picture of the vent if you can.

Only pic I have right now, and it's hiding behind the supply line.

Looks like an old Maid-o-Mist. Those things can crumble when you try to remove them. I'd wait till next week to mess with it.

agree, it looks like a maid o mist #67 , i never swapped a schrader pin on one but there is always first??? maybe...
if replacing complete unit i would soak it with penetrating oil while system is on, then trying to remove it with system down wrap it in a rag try to unscrew by hand its only 1/8 inch thread so be careful

Thanks for the advice. I think you're right and I'll wait, spray and try to ease it out. Really not looking to be poking around down in there with an easy out.
