Anode Rod in Buderus tank

Side by side comparison of the new anode rod and existing (what's left of it). The ST-200 was installed 11 years ago. It's one reason I gave up on steel tanks and use only stainless steel indirect tanks. Seattle water has a pH of 7 and 1gr/gal of hardness. Must be the chlorine that is so corrosive.

Never had a leaker in the NW with a stainless tank. Oh yeah, once... 15 years go when the tank had a manufacturing defect at the coil welds. I was reimbursed for labor which was rare at the time.
  • I just replaced the anode rod on a Vitocell 100 steel tank with Ceraprotect lining. We installed the indirect 12 years ago and I was surprised that the anode rod was in such good shape.
