I just noticed who posted this.

@JohnnyNY why are you asking questions, knowing you I would've expected that to be ripped out 2 hours ago!

It's in process. Proposal sent. Awaiting trigger-pulling.
Do you think I want to be the last company who worked on this boiler as it is?

That's one of the older Crowns that was made by Dunkirk. I bet the installer was fuming that he had to pay for a 2-1/2x2" bushing....

    You can't fix stupid!

I hope that's not an inspection tag on the gas pipe. The wiring looks just as bad

Dan why is it that they do not have tighter boiler control. My inspectors look for liner and LWCO.I have seen companies that remove the lwco after inspection and plug tee. This is on Long Island.I know you have given your life to the trade but do you ever see in the future maybe boiler licensing and annual inspections like they have in Italy. After all it is the homeowner who in my opinion is being taken advantage of.If money is a problem for them there is organisations that can help.
Thanks for your work and btw HH over the last 2 months has been a great learning curve for a lot of us out their,I am sure you know the threads I am referring to.

Thanks for the kind words. I don't see such legislation coming unless the Long Island politicians can find a way to profit from it personally.

@JohnNY What kind of dope do you use on your steam piping? I like how it blends in with the black pipe and fittings.

Copper piping with no swing joints
only a single side tapping is used. Both tappings should have been used.
no real header, system risers should not be taken off vertically like that
the equalizer is too high, it should be low enough to drain condensate from the header

    In other words, everything!

Here is the manual for that boiler, which was actually made by Dunkirk. Scroll down to the piping diagram to see what we mean:
