Tankless coil question

in Oil Heating
I have a older boiler with a tankless coil the feeds into a 80 gallon hot water heater that is only being used as a storage tank.
Can I stop using the tankless coil and only use the boiler for baseboard heat if I start using the hot water heater as a heater and not just a storage tank

Of course you can separate them. I don't know what boiler you have, so cold start might end it's life. I would set the low limit all the way down, and maintain a low temp0
