(Video) Prob w Smith 8/Carlin EZ-Gas comb/Rec for NJ Essex area

I have a problem with the Smith 8/Carlin EZ-Gas Comb. we put in three years ago. Actually last year we had the same problem and our guy (who did the orig. conversion) eventually replaced the whole Carlin gun (after exhaustively troubleshooting the controls, and everything else). But this year the same problem appears to have appeared. It simply won't stay engaged. I've attached a link to a video to demonstrate the problem
Does anyone know someone skilled in this setup in the NJ Essex county (Glen Ridge/Montclair) area who could help troubleshoot this? (as my guy is no longer available), because all the guys I've tried are perplexed by the setup and say its problematic, etc.. Thanks in advance.

Whoever you get will need to check the electrode and flame detector adjustments. You'll have to pull the burner to do it. The flame detector rod especially must be in the center of the hole in the burner head, and project 1-1/4" from the head.
Next thing to check is whether the electrical circuit feeding the burner is properly grounded. I like to hook up a 150-watt old-school light bulb between hot and ground (a real old-timer electrician taught me that years ago). If the bulb lights up fully, the ground is good. If not, find out why.
If all else fails, the control is probably bad.
I believe the Carlin rep who serves my area also handles yours, and can put you in touch if needed. All Steamed Up, Inc.

The issue was the pressure across the gas valve manifold was way to high. I set it down to 3.5" w.c.1
