See attached photo of a radiator with a convection register.
Several of the radiators in the building were set up this way (plates between the sections) but this is the only one with the actual register damper (at the bottom).
I've never seen this before.

Interesting, haven't seen that type of contraption before. Do you know if it was manufactured or homebuilt? I love the way the radiator is sitting on the supply pipe and pedestals.0

That looks similar to the "box-base" ventilators that appeared in several old radiator catalogs. Was this building used as a school?All Steamed Up, Inc.

Yes. It was originally a school. Now a local historical society museum. The original building was 1838. I don't know when the radiators were installed and I don't know when it was converted to hot water.0
