Not touched for 13 years

Rinnai water heater not serviced since it was installed 13 years ago. I was called to service it after the home owner watched a YouTube video about servicing. Was getting a propane smell when it ran only half the burners were lighting. I told him it was too late.

The salesman told me that it didn't need servicing. Will Rinnai honor the warranty or do I need to call the installer back? Maybe Home Depot will give me a new unit?

Doesn't look too bad for 13 years...if I find the picture I have a 5 year old that is worse off than that one...Rinnai actually shipped a new heat X...that was 3 years ago and it's still going strong!

This one was in a Bed and Breakfast. Downtime was not an option. Also using it in a commercial situation I believe shortens the warranty. After 13 years I assumed it was up.

Wow! We recommend service on tankless once per year minimum for light commercial units. I've seen a few after three to four years of service that were locked out, mostly just dirty and serviceable.

I bet you got them up and running nicely, Aaron. Nice work.
