I just installed this thermostat when I have the temp set at 70 degrees from 5pm until in the morning is when it finally catches up and turns off.. Does anybody think the problem could be I connected the heat pump wire when my AC doesn't have a heat pump...

    Did you read the installation manual (the white pages) that comes with each HW t-stat? It asks you about your system, step by step for wiring and programming. If the questions are too challenging you might need professional help for the install.
