Effectiveness of indirect water heater using cold start cast iron boiler

I am considering the issues of using a cold start cast iron boiler to heat an 40 gallon indirect stainless steel indirect domestic water heater. First the wear and tear during the summer months when boiler is normally idle when not used for domestic requirements. Short cycling of boiler, condensations issues from low run time, and other factors that hopefully you provide to help contemplate effectiveness and efficiency of this type of system

Been doing them like that for 26 years with no detrimental effect. Good plan. Just make sure that 40 has enough capacity for big dumps like tubs.0
