Kitchen Faucet Problem

Water is only coming out of sprayer when activated. Nothing is coming out of spout on either hot or cold water handles. Is there a cartridge under each handle? Is there a diverter under the main spout?

There should be an airator on the main spout that screws onto the spout. It is probably clogged up. See if you can unscrew it and run the water. If it runs, clean the airator out or put a new one on.

There's some kind of diverter but I never understood how it works other than when the sprayer is open, it automatically goes to that.

Can you shut the sprayer off, or is the spray handle stuck on some how? If so, that will cause it.

Might be crud, gravel, sand built up inside the diverter. You could get lucky by removing the whole assembly and blowing compressed air & water backwards thru the sprayer line and faucet. Don't exceed normal water pressure, I'd keep it lower when blowing reverse.

Gotta make and model? Is this a faucet with separate sprayer, or a pull out faucet with a spray/stream diverter?
