Talked to the local gas guy here, he said he has only read about bare steel UG gas systems that have anode protection. But because of the bare steel in contract with the earth the anodes are used up quickly unless it is an "active" system with a power supply involved. We have the coated/insulated NG system here with passive anodes.
A gas company should be able to point you in the right direction.1 -
Hello: You might want to have a look at NACE http://www.nace.org/home.aspx and see if they have any info available. Part of installing a groundbed correctly is to make sure the anode/s can function by having a reliable path for current to follow.
