why vent whistles when the heat clicks off?

OK.... I always thought the radiator Vent would whistle when the heat first kicks on and the steam pushes the air out the vent until it heats up and closes. Why would one of my vents do the opposite? It seems to heat normal, no water or gurgling. It just seems weird that once the pressure shuts down it whistles but not before.

It sounds like that radiator just might be building a little vacuum once the boiler shuts down and it sucks some air into it. Probably because it happens to be the first vent on the system to open. you can try to switch it out with another vent but it isn't hurting anything.
Do you have enough venting on your Mains? That might help also.

The whistle might be happening as the system cools and the vent opens. If one vent opens before the others do you will hear the air rushing in to fill the vacuum that happens as the steam all collapses.

What kind of radiator and main vents?
