Using mylar to reflect heat back into the wall?

Hello there!
I like to sleep in a cool room in the winter and my room is too hot because it has 2 radiators that can't be turned off. I covered the one closest to my bed with a comforter and it helps a lot but I'd like to go further with reducing the heat.
The radiators are encased in the walls with a cover over them, so it would be easy enough to line the inside of the cover with mylar for it to reflect heat back onto the radiator to make it turn off sooner.
I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. I'm just concerned because I don't know if there are any safety issues involved. I happen to have a mylar blanket handy and I can try this out but just wanted to check in first.
Thanks so much for your help! I appreciate it.

Sounds like wall mounted convectors. Is there a damper in the cabinet top or bottom?0

I believe it is an old wall mounted convector. The cover looks like this one and is a simple metal cover with holes and no damper http://www.h-mac.com/modine-pl042418.html0

If you want to reduce the output, just cover part of the lower opening.0

Thanks. If I wanted to reduce it more, would it be safe to cover it completely?0

Yes, no risk in covering the entire inlet.0

Great to hear, thanks for your help!0
