Looking good! Is that Hartford loop below the water line? Did they install a skim port?

2 .5 in . below the water line. Peerless steamers come with an open skim port, located back rt. Been that way since I did my first one in 1979

It took 9 hours…Its a peerless 63 04 in my opinion by far the best gas steam boiler on the market….177 MBH input 458 sq. ft of steam Old one was a Burnham oil boiler recently converted to gas less than one week ago….by others…Customer reported white smoke emitting out the chimney and high water usage…We went over and what we saw was a mess….new liner all sooted up, top panel with factory installed screws…So out it came…will post pic. of the 6 year old boiler with a hole the size of my finger in the middle section 2 in below the top…She also complained of odors..so I advised her to call the gas co. Boiler was red tagged for beyond excessive c o….

If someone wanted to install a drop header themselves, is this doable? Meaning what kind of torque would you have to apply to everything to secure 2.5-3 inch piping? I remember seeing someone post a picture of their rig they used to put the header together, so I'm guessing it wouldn't be a DIY type project.

Take a look at @KC_jones and @Chrisj 's installs. They have posted pics on this site. They both did their's themselves!

I think it was probably theirs that I saw previously. I'll have to look in to it, though I'm not sure it would provide much benefit since all appears to be working well for the moment.

    Sorry to hijack the thread.

    Nice work.

That Midco EC is a decent burner- my guess is no one did a combustion test on it. But the hole in the boiler- there's no excuse for someone not picking that up.
