I'm sad to say the system had already been abused, a 1.5 gph Peerless with one 2" riser and header.

Old to new in one week. Notice the recommended boiler piping, that's my marking (not the guy who installed the Peerless)

So, because it needed a new boiler you ripped out all of the radiation and piping?

Isn't that like throwing a car out because it needs an oil change? :o

    Oh,
So you didn't convert this, someone else did and then you came in to pull the radiators out?

Cool rads, nice job! What did you use for the new heat emitters? Home-runned, just running on outdoor reset?

Where are these radiators right now? They better not be in a junkyard.

Stephen, all new rads 33 series everywhere except for two 22s in the two bathrooms. We use Hydronic Alternatives. Yes it's on full constant circulation with the FW200 control on the wall in the living room. Alpha pump is running about 6 or 7 gpm. 70,000 btu worth of rads. Yes all home runned.

J, you can now breathe, they are in my basement. The HO grabbed 5 of the cast iron tops. We have all the rads and 3 of the matching tops. 3 of the 11 rads were basic.

Well, be prepared for a slew of negative comments. If I were you, I would have chosen to omit the part about removing the steam system. Things will get ugly around here because of it.

    So Sad

One of the sadder posts as they were made in the same town as the house. I could say a lot of things, but sad is what comes to mind. I don't understand why they couldn't be used in the current system. Sometimes homeowners just need educating. At the least they should stay with the house as the NEXT homeowner may want to reinstall them. They'll probably be pulling out the old windows, putting up aluminum siding and ripping off the roof next after watching too much This Old House and HGTV. . I'll stop now, these are just my pet peeves.

I am willing to give Gary a break. He has plenty of times where he has installed steam stuff. Sometimes if you try to convince a customer to install steam and they have their minds made up to get rid of it you lose the sale totally.... Hey it could have been a Scorched dry air system that went in.....
    Gary How do you like the greenstar? I have a few in. A few 100 combi's, a 57 and a 151.

I'm kinda giving him a break because the work he did looks awesome.

Still not happy about the conversion though.

Wow I didn't know people were so sensitve. This old system had been beat up, vapor lines hacked out, weird piping cobled together with copper out in the system. The home owner wanted hot water, we do hot water.

Yes I do steam too, just little house stuff.

Ckopp, I'm finally getting used to the FW200, I like how it can be installed on the boiler (demand circ) or on the wall (constant circ). I dig the pvc venting too. I've installed over 100 wall hung Vitos, I'm still waiting to hear about their 95% woes. Our state rolls out
$1500 for a 95% $1000 for less than 95 (over 92 I guess). I like the internal pump, and the cheesy plastic puker (totally non old school buy it saves a few minutes). I've got about 15 or so installed, only two combis and the rest ZBRs.

I have zero issue with you for taking it out, just upset to see another steam system go away. Good on you for saving what you could.
