Anybody try a Lyric Themostat with Steam?

As an ongoing journey, I'm considering Honeywell's Lyric thermostat. I know it's expensive, but price aside, it appears to fit the bill for steam heat, as you can set the CPH through settings. Just trying to glean others' thoughts on this thermostat.

You can do the same on a VisionPro 8000 or even much cheaper $30-40 Honeywell stats as well.

Can't say how the Lyric performs as I've never used one. If you do buy one please keep us informed.

Good point. I should have mentioned that I would like the thermostat to have internet access to allow me to remotely monitor the temperature. I currently have an older ecobee model and a "new" honeywell wifi model waiting to be connected, which is much cheaper than the lyric, so I may stick with that.

That's one thing I liked about the Nest the few hours I had one. It felt unbelievably solid. Almost like a solid hunk of glass.

The Nest wasn't designed by Apple but rather an ex Apple employee. Also, even though I generally don't care for Apple following in their footsteps is often a good thing.

Their products are typically built and engineered extremely well.

I have one on a old hot water boiler. I love it! Had it for this entire heat season. Keeps temperature steady (verified by separate temp readings). Using set back ( I know it probably doesn't pay but we like it cool at night) It determines amount of set back (varies between 4 degrees and 12 degrees) and always has temp correct at required time. Only issue is it lost network connection once, and when it does, it goes into "home" mode, basically your usual set point.

I just put a Lyric THerm on our Vacuum steam system. Aside from manually opening two ports on the router to get it to talk to the smartphone properly, the setup was smooth. Its working well now. Only 24hrs installed... Haven't set the CPH yet… what should it be set to for this type of system??

My Honeywell wifi Tstat is set to 1 CPH. That is standard for steam. I feel 2 might be better, but the next option is three. Since I only got it correctly set two days ago, I'm waiting to see if that might be better. It was set at the default of 6 which was not good. It would stay on once to come back from a set-back, but subsequently cycle like crazy. Because of the vacuum it would heat the first line of rads, but it wasn't long enough to deliver steam to the entire house.

Welcome. It's good to have another vacuum person here. Can you share any details about your system and its functioning?

I have a Lyric on a steam, it was a pain to set up, you can't make a heat call till you join your wifi and create an account with Honeywell, not fun when it's cold out and the heat has been out all day (new boiler). I simply wasn't impressed with the mounting to base plate. It feels like a Frisbee compared to Nest.

For steam (I recall steam was not an option in set up, but the HO was setting up as I was standing there with him) I think you need to click radiant, yet I may be mistaken.

All the HWs I've dealt with can be set for steam and my wifi (not lyric) HW can always be set manually if the wifi is out. I can't imagine the Lyric is any different, but who knows. I believe i've read here that the Nest doesn't have a CPH setting, but they may have changed that. what is the advantage of the Lyric compared to the other Honeywell offering? Anyone?
